    Excellent tutorial. One question please. Can you put energy on any monument even if your character is not on his area? I found answer on BGG from Designer: "You can indeed Deploy energy to the topmost section of any Monument on the board. The restriction for binding energy where your character or Bridge Tokens are present only applies to the Monument Track and Pillar Track." Thank you!

    0:10 It isn't deck building, though. You never shuffle. Your "hand" isn't even secret, you lay most of your cards on the table every round. "Tableau building," "hand building," "pool building" are all terms that would work. I know you have complained about this before, but it is also helpful if words mean things. The key component of a "deck" is that you are drawing randomly from it. I wouldn't mind if someone called Quacks of Quedlinburg or Orleans a "deck builder" because, even though they are technically cardboard or wooden pieces, you are randomizing them. But you never randomize your cards in FCM or Concordia or any other "hand / pool / tableau builder." Just because the things you are taking are cards doesn't make it a "deck builder." Would you consider St Petersburg a deck builder? Colloretto? No Thanks? Collecting cards is not "deck building." I wouldn't wince at this if you were a random person in a game store. But you are a reviewer. You could at least try to use terminology in a way that makes sense.

    • @NightsAroundaTable
      @NightsAroundaTable День назад

      It depends on which version you're playing. i've read two different threads on the subject. One of them says that in more recent versions, everyone gets a 3rd bean field, regardless of player count. In another thread, apparently no one does, and the 3rd bean field has been cut from the game (?)

    I used the watt remover gel because we can’t find the stronger acid in Canada. I started on small ones under my eyes. I had to apply the gel everyday for several days but eventually I got to the lat layer of skin. It scabbed and after a few days the scab fell off and there was new skin and no yellow spots. So I got bold and confident to do the eyelids one at a time. What I found out there are many more layers of skin on the eyelids. It is also.hard to do something that feels like you are hurting yourself day after day. I finally got to a point when I thought I had gotten to yellow stuff layer and stopped. It got inflamed the next day and my eye was all puffy. I drank lots of water and kept it clean. It scabbed over and when the scab fell there was new skin but still some yellow stuff, not as much as before. But I wouldn’t do it myself again. Too scary, especially with the stronger acid. On other parts of my face maybe but not the eyelids.

    This game looks like one of those old games that got a remake and now this original looks weird and old Except there is no newer version? The difference between a hand management game and deck building is the expectation of the player hearing the term In a deck builder you don't know what your next hand will look like but you improve the deck to improve your chances of getting the good stuff In hand management games you can see and use all your options but you have to plan ahead so you don't end up with useless cards at the end of your hand. Just because you can take the cost of wasting a turn to get your cards back doesn't make it a deck builder

    Have I really been saying the name of this game wrong all this time ?!

    • @NightsAroundaTable
      @NightsAroundaTable 14 дней назад

      No! There are no hard and fast rules for how to pronounce loanwords in your mother tongue. It’s consensus. English speakers say “garage” like the Frenchies do on one hand, but then some Americans pronounce the “r” in foyer. i’m an Anglo-Canadian, and we take compulsory French classes for five years, so when i see a French loanword ending in “er,” i know it should sound like “ay.” Similarly, the French don’t put their tongues to their teeth to voice “th” like we do - it’s a hard “t” sound for them. (Even a bit sharper… it’s almost like an “ts” sound with the most subtle “s” imaginable. Kinda like a grace note in music.) So “LOO-tsee-ay.” Anyway, if you’re pronouncing the word like you hear other English speakers around you pronouncing it, you’re good to go! i was just having a bit of fun.

Can take silly time, with rest just sat about. And yeah, looks like same version we have, some improvements and stuff for rulebook and icons etc.

    Jesus i'm watching this and i'm like "why do i need to remove eight things out of a box of tetris shapes i'll need to remember later to then do six operations to slide twelve doorsy things off of them and then remember to put them on in the right things"... no flak to the designers or you, but i want an insert that is as seamless as possible. If it does double duty to act as trays for the game, great, but hell, i don't want to fiddle with stuff. And then there's the decisions. The rocket ship is a perfect example of 'we made an insert for a game we don't play'. Why do the objective markers get a fancyful box, they don't matter, they can just be in a hole. Speaking of fanciful, why are there only 3 of the 5 phases shown on the acrylic? What's the idea/design there? Why do we have anti-slide transparent 'wells' for our dice in this game?! And why do i have to add/remove them everytime i pack the game away? Why are the tiles stacked horizontally instead of vertically? It's a game about hidden pulling tiles, keep that as a tray and pull from the top, shuffle after a game and restock the 'towers'. Done and can be used while playing without using bags or fiddling with tiles pulling them out everytime to throw them in a bag. Why are there the VP chits UNDER the player marker/money track meeple? I'd have expected the player boards be there. Like you take that thing and give it around the table for people to pick their meeple and the board (maybe even the starting tilebox). If anything, this boggles the mind the most and makes me just either want to not buy inserts or make my own (and i have). When i make an insert or i organize my game box, the top is what you need to set down first, the main board or player boards (all setup for each player bundled together so you can just give out a bag to every player). Then i try to keep the order of setup of the game itself as i go deeper into the box. At the end, there's just components separated by role and function and necessary ease of picking them out. And then there's the utility things, i have pencil marked my Cascadia box-insert with the spots for tiles for the exact limit of 2P/3P/4P so i don't have to count tiles ever, i just pull them to that pencil mark and just make sure to shuffle them around end of game. Like, that's why i'm getting/making an insert and not just throwing everything into the box. But this? This just seems like it looks pretty, and like it was designed by someone who was handed the component list and sizes and no rules or context. Somehow it feels it'll ADD time to setup/teardown instead of remove it. Just a mess, and.. for a nice chunk of change and 90% of the money going to the design, not the materials. And the design just isn't there.

    • @NightsAroundaTable
      @NightsAroundaTable 19 дней назад

      It’s hard to disagree on all of your points. i’m the same way: i 3d print my inserts, and i like to stamp setup quantities into the bins where the parts are stored so i don’t have to check the rulebook just to get it on the table.
